A visit to the Bucium vineyard is a memory for a lifetime, an entrancing experience adding to the merriment mirrored in our wines.
The Agroindustriala Bucium is a complex enterprise because it is able to produce all three categories of natural alcoholic drinks: still wines, sparkling wines, fruit brandies and grape by-products. The brand is highly appreciated on nationwide level, as it is in Germany and the US.
“The wine is a privilege inherited in millennia, but also a mystery making one wonder how it was possible to yield both gods and mere mortals.”
The grape varieties are mainly indigenous (Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, Fetească Neagră). There are also the Aligote, Muscat Ottonel and Merlot varieties granting personality to the Bucium wines. The region particularities, as well as the freshness of the wines is due to the vineyard location north of the 45th parallel, where the summers are not so hot to burn away the grape’s primal flavour. The region and the soil texture are granting high acidity wines, copiously cherished in the company of a certain cuisine.
The Bucium vineyard has been historically attested since 1469, when a certain vineyard on the Socola hill was donated to the Neamt Monastery.
The vineyard is covering four of the five hills of Iasi: the Bucium Hill, the Visani Hill, the Tomesti Hill and the Pietraria Hill. It was established as a state agricultural company in 1949, later to own 1050 ha of vine and 400 ha of orchard.
During the transnational meeting on BACIS Erasmus+ Partnership Project (Be a change – Invest socially!), visitors from 4 European countries have been helped by ASIE foundation to visit the Bucium vineyard.
