Solaris project: Final meeting in Prague

On December 1rst, this year, the partners of the SOLARIS project met in Prague for the last international management meeting. In an early winter setting, the mixed meeting stimulated a suitable context for reviewing the main results of the project. ASIE was represented on site by Mrs. Roxana Munteanu Huțanu and online by Mrs. Dana Robotă.

The visit of the representatives from the Czech National Agency at the meeting was an occasion of joyful share of experience accumulated in the two years of the project in which both participants and stakeholders learned a lot about age management in the educational sector and improved awareness about the issue of age at work and age inclusiveness.

Full agenda of the meeting can be consulted here:

Primarily, SOLARIS project targeted the organizational aspects within the education sector, serving as a practical resource to support various stakeholders responsible for employment, including school administrators, policymakers, social partners, teachers, and particularly Continuing Professional Development (CPD) trainers.

Therefore, the results that are almost ready at this point are:

  • Collection of best practice examples for addressing age-related issues in schools.
  • Research report of the comparative analysis of case studies and recommendations to assist educators in choosing effective age management measures.
  • Curricula for training selected school staff on age-related topics.
  • A model introductory training program, a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program for VET teachers and trainers.

Blazing summers with the SOLARIS project!

☀️ Summer vibes are in the air, but the SOLARIS project is keeping the heat on for innovation! 🚀🔥

Although it is the month of August, when most organizations have their activity reduced to a minimum, the European team of the SOLARIS project met online to review the schedule for the last part of the project’s implementation.

Using the monitoring tools created by the coordinator, the team reviewed each result of the project, its stage and how all remaining tasks will be completed in order to achieve the most significant impact on the target groups.

Finally, the SOLARIS project will offer:

– a collection of good practice examples from 6 European countries, on the subject of age management in the educational sector

– an intercultural study on specific age management problems and the solutions already implemented by different educational institutions in Europe, a curriculum that addresses both teachers and school managers or school counselors

– a complete training program that includes solutions and measures that can be adopted at an individual level but also ideas and suggestions for implementation at a systemic, organizational level, to create age friendly educational organizations.

All these resources can be found on the project website, which hosts the results of our previous project and which will turn into a resource hub regarding the issue of age management in Europe, for different categories of stakeholders.

Transnational learning meeting in Solaris proiect

Between May 23-25, 2023, the transnational learning meeting within the SOLARIS project took place, hosted by our partners, CESUR, in Malaga. 24 teachers from 6 European countries worked together actively for 3 days to develop a training program on age management for those who work in the education sector.
Many ideas and examples were discussed at the European level, the teachers shared their experiences and proposed methods and approaches that could be implemented both at the individual, personal and organizational level, to create a culture of caring for the elderly and of an age friendly environment.
Within this project, a qualitative research was carried out, based on case studies, which revealed the current state of affairs regarding specific age management problems in the 6 countries involved in the project: Czech Republic, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Turkey.
Many relevant aspects were discovered and analyzed, the problem of the aging of the education staff being a real and increasingly pressing one at the European level.
The research also highlighted possible solutions – already implemented or suggested by the investigated case studies. These will be found in the Training Program that will be perfected and finalized in the next period, following the discussions and debates within the international meeting.
The participants – mainly teachers involved in the VET sector – were very satisfied with this meeting and were able to share their expertise with colleagues from other countries, this meeting also being a good opportunity to connect, get to know each other and relate at the European level.

Solaris online meeting before Christmas

A new Solaris online meeting took place today, before the Christmas break, to review the main tasks we will start with in 2023.
The Solaris project will move towards the production of training materials (curriculum and training materials) regarding age management in the educational sector.

In the creation of these materials, the partners will rely on the results of research carried out through desk research, but especially through case studies that have enriched the knowledge and database in this field with valuable information related to the needs and resources of education personnel facing aging.

Solaris meeting in Rome: a step closer to tackle age management in educational sector

Did u know that even if Europe is facing accelerate ageing issues of its teachers, this problem is underrated in almost all European countries? The meeting of Solaris project in Rome explored the very first results of the interviews held in each partner country and debated on the next steps needed to take in order to achieve good results of the project.

Very interesting data are collected in order to address the needs of teachers/trainers and educators in the field of age management. Solaris project will provide a practical training for any teachers willing to improve its competencies in managing the professional life. We will combine the research data with the three burnout and work-ability predictors:

1. Sense of coherence

2. Workload

3. Relationships in working life

Stay tuned, age management really matters!

A new online meeting for SOLARIS project

The partners of the Solaris project met again online to review the tasks that each must fulfill until the next transnational meeting that will take place in Rome, in the first part of November.

The project is still in the stage of collecting case studies about the problems of age management in the educational field, as well as the solutions implemented or proposed at the level of stakeholders, in each partner country. Not surprisingly, the issue of age management in education is a delicate one, which raises many deontological, strategic, or even … political questions. Therefore, we consider that it is more than necessary to collect some qualitative information about this subject which will then be analyzed and will constitute the basis from which we will start in the future training program that we will develop within the project.

We expect the final analysis report, based on the case studies, to be ready at the end of 2022.

Online working meeting in Solaris project

Members of the European project team (“Solutions to Age Related Issues in Education Sector“) met today to discuss how age issues will be investigated for the education sector. All partners recognized this common need, especially to find solutions or measures that can prevent or improve age-related problems.

A first State of the art investigation has been implemented in all partner countries, based on a specific desk research. The main conclusions are related with discovering that European educational systems tend to face similar challenges and often overlapping, in terms of demand and offer of teachers. Most countries report a lack of teachers and the rapid ageing of the teaching population as being the top issues for the mid and long term future. Therefore, the Solaris initiative to tackle this problem is innovative and may provide good solutions to be implemented at local and European level.

Today’s working session was focused on the first stages of our descriptive research. As a first step, an interview guide will be developed for key people in the education sector. Each partner will then conduct these interviews, which will be analyzed so that the conclusions obtained can be used to compile a training program.

Stay tuned for more information about the project and follow us in social media as well!

First online meeting for SOLARIS European project

The Covid pandemic still has strong effects on European mobility. The first meeting of this project should have brought together all the partners in Prague. Instead, we organized an online meeting to start the SOLARIS project, an innovative project that continues the work done in a previous project, Age Management Masterclass. The Solaris project deals with the same very current topic – that of the general aging of the population at European level and, consequently, of the aging of the workforce – but is addressed especially for educational sector. The agenda of the today’s event included an introduction to the main results achieved in the previous AMM project and then a detailed debate on presentation of SOLARIS project, focusing on interconnected Results (previously Intellectual outputs), the Timeline of the project, the Distribution of main activities and tasks. You can find the detailed Agenda here.
