DEED is already a best practice example!

🌍✨ Great news! The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission recently organized a case study interview as part of their project to explore the impactful use of the European Competence Framework for Sustainability, known as GreenComp. The aim is to identify and analyze good practice cases, showcasing how stakeholders have embraced GreenComp.

In this European research, the DEED project emerged as a best practice example in applying GreenComp for promoting and teaching sustainability.

The interview provided a great way to share valuable insights and experiences regarding the application of GreenComp within DEED project. We spoke about main aims and results of the project,  highlighting challenges faced, innovative solutions applied in integrating GreenComp into our microlessons and successes in increasing awareness about GreenComp.

Stay tuned for the dissemination of findings! The Joint Research Centre aims to share the lessons learned and best practices identified during our interview, thus, DEED contributing to a succesful and efficient use of the European Competence Framework for Sustainability!

DEED connects in 2024: January online meeting

The DEED (Digital Environmental Education in VET) project enters 2024 at full speed: the partners met in a new working meeting to review the main milestones of this project. The meeting included the evaluation of each work package and especially of the results and materials created so far.

Soon we will have on the project website the virtual library with resources related to ecological/green skills, microlessons and microcertification. The partners are working intensively on the production of over 200 micro-lessons that will present the main green competencies in an attractive and highly usable manner.

These microlessons will go through a microcertification process and then, a Guide for VET teachers will include explanations and guidance for those who want to actively use these materials and integrate the topic of green education in their current teaching practices.

DEED project – online working session in June 2023

On the 20th June 2023, the partners of the DEED project met in a working session to explore and evaluate the milestones of the project at this moment. Together we debated and clarified the key concepts of the project, especially those related to micro-lessons.

What are they, how do they differ from a classic lesson, what practical ways could we have to develop useful microlessons in the VET field – these were some relevant aspects on which we reflected and shared previous opinions and experiences.

We also explored the set of green competences and resumed the framework we worked on during the learning workshops in Malaga and processed them so that they become learning objectives in our micro-lessons.
The DEED project aims to develop over 200 such micro-lessons to support teachers, tutors and trainers – especially from the VET educational sector.

Short staff training in Malaga for DEED project

ASIE participated between April 12-14 in a short staff training event in Malaga, within the DEED project, coordinated by Proeduca, Czech Republic.

The project aims to develop green competences by creating an impressive number of micro-lessons (200+) that include the most relevant aspects of green competence, as it is defined at the European level.

During the 3 days of training, the teams from the 7 partner countries worked together to develop the best structure of microlessons but also to practice skills, from making soap to cleaning the beach or hiking in the beautiful landscape of Caminito del Rey.

The participants improved their knowledge and skills related to the key concepts of ecological education and shared experiences and opinions about how the micro-lessons on this topic could be developed as efficiently as possible. An important aspect of the project is the micro-certification approach, which, although it is approached differently within the partner countries, can find common points and examples of good practice that can be implemented during the course of development.

First Project Meeting for Digital Environmental Education in VET (DEED)

The DEED project just started!

On 2nd December 2022 the partners of Digital Environmental Education in VET (DEED) project met in a mixed setting (face to face, in Ceske Bodejovice and online) in order to know each other and start working together within the project frame. ASIE was not able to attend on site so we joined the meeting in online format, keeping the promise that we will find a time and a place to join all partners in direct meeting, in the future.

The Agenda of the meeting included all relevant aspects of the project, including main objectives, aimed results (and their interconnections), the timeline of the project and the distribution of the project activities and tasks.

The main specific project objectives of DEED project are:

  • to create a professional network in the field of environmental education and contribute to it;
  • to develop a set of tools for the VET teachers/trainers to help them develop Green Competence their students;
  • to deliver the tools for Green Competence development to the VET teachers andprovide a guidance on how to implement
    them in their vocational courses and lessons;
  • to spread the results of the project within the professional networks of the partners.

The main objective will be achieved by creation of several tangible outputs in form of “products” and several other outputs,
outcomes and impacts, as follows:

TANGIBLE OUTPUTS (products)

  1. Virtual library
  2. Set of GreenComp micro-lessons
  3. VET Teachers’ Guide – a step-by-step guide on how to use the GreenComp micro-lessons
  4. GreenComp micro-certificate
  5. Green competence training platform
